is the traceable history of an artifact, from the Crown of Thorns to the White Album. I got my copy of the Beatles' LP while living in Van Nuys, California, I was 8; I've had it ever since. My word is its provenance, and yet, each original pressing of the White Album is numbered. Mine is No. 0114004, which proves its authenticity as a first pressing. It's a mess, no doubt, as you can see, but an authentic mess.
The Crown of Thorns rests in an undisclosed location inside the Sainte Chappelle in Paris. Its provenance in the chapel goes back to the 13th Century. Prior to that, the whereabouts of the Holy Crown is sketchy at best; indeed the provenance for my White Album is slightly more tangible.
Provenance is important at 168, from the collectibles that adorn our walls to the Harley Davidsons in the shop. As we launch this new website, we hope that you'll follow our journey, find our provenance compelling and share with us the stories that make up our brand.
168 Tattoos was established in 2013 in West Collingswood Heights, New Jersey; you can't miss our distinctive storefront. Over the years we've grown a bit, adding antiques, a motorcycle shop, offset printing and unique collectibles. Have you ever wanted to own Jim Morrison's key fob from the Alta Cienega Motel in Hollywood? Now you can - a replica without any provenance - but cool nonetheless! Remember those old t-shirts from Easyriders magazine? You know the ones like"Shovelheads Forever." Yeah, we got 'em!
Check us out each day for a new post. Watch us build a bike or explore the history of tattooing. 168 is all the cool stuff you love, want and drool over, Rat Fink.
